Scrapbook containing the papers of Sumner Paine. The volume contains correspondence between Paine and members of his family, in particular with his father Charles C. Paine, while the former was a student at Boston Latin School and Harvard University, and as a member of the 20th Mass. Infantry Regiment during the Civil War. In addition, the volume contains student papers, exams, monthly reports, and letters from Latin School officials about Paine to his father; a few letters to his grandparents from Europe; letters from members of the 20th Infantry regarding Paine's death at the Battle of Gettysburg, July 3, 1863; and a few photographs.
